What was the most awesome thing you've seen in your travels?

Jun 11, 7:28PM EDT0

Hello Edward,

The most awesome thing I've seen was in Bhutan. The government cares so much about its citizens that it had blown me away. There are open air gyms for maitaining their health, they plant so many trees like really lot of trees, the pollution levels are so down, the air is so fresh there. It was a really awesome thing to see such a small country giving quality life to its citizens.

What was the most surprising food you've eaten? (The food you thought you would enjoy the least but actually ended up loving)

Jun 11, 2:53PM EDT0

I have had many weird type of foods but the most weird one was a combination of banana and puttu which is made of semolina and dried grated coconut. Its a south Indian dish and it sounded really lame to me. But when i tried it I became a fan. You need to mash the banana with a fork or your hand and mix it with puttu which is little dry and eat it. Its a complete meal for them. One more thing was the local toddy made from coconut. It was great too, though it didn't look so good initially.

When you were traveling, what's the longest you've ever been “Stuck” somewhere, and why/how were you stuck? Weather? Money?

Jun 11, 11:15AM EDT0

Hi John,

The longest I've been stuck somewhere was in Solang Valley in Himanchal Pradesh. This is a place where all the adventure sports happen and it was the time of heavy snowfall when i Visited this place. There were hardly any ATMs that were working and we didn't had enough cash to pay to support all the activities. We initially took the package and then when we had to pay for it we were falling short of money. We actually pleaded to let us go down and send some boy with us so that we can pay the amount after reaching the main city. People had been rude to us as well and to our dismay the road to return to city was blocked due to heavy snow, we had to wait for around 5 hours in the car for the path to get cleared so that we can reach back and pay back the debt. It was a really long day.

What were the Himalayan mountains really like?

Jun 10, 7:56PM EDT0

Hey Jenna,

The Himalayan mountain surprise me everytime. Though I've visited different sections of Himalayan range, also in different countries but every range has a different story to tell like every hill is different from the other. Its not just plain green or white. There are so many shades encompassed in those mountain ranges. Visiting each and every corner of it is not possible but what I've seen is enthralling. The himalayas that fall in the Tibetian range( now its a part of India) are the most beautiful of what I've seen uptill now. Within a range of 1 kilometer you will find 10 different colours. Sometimes its the colour of the mud or the grass or sand. Its just ineffable. To experience it one need to witness it with his very own eyes.

How long did it take you to go from one end of India to the other?

Jun 10, 7:33PM EDT0

Hello David,

My journey was not a one time journey. I've completed it in sections. I had started 3 years ago with visiting the southern tip of India and then gradually i covered all the places. The western part has been covered before and the eastern part was covered during this time. There are still many cities that I need to visit. Covering whole India is just not possible in such a short duration of time but I am doing bits by bits.

What was the most dangerous thing that has happened to you during your travels?

Jun 10, 6:58PM EDT0

Hi Myersemily,

There was this one time that my flight got cancelled when I was travelling from New Delhi to Cochin. I planned my leaves in advance as I was working full time back then so wasting a whole day was something I couldn't afford. I fought really hard with the airline manager to give me an airline ticket of that day itself. Every other passenger left and I was the only one passenger who had to go to Kochi to board the flight from New Delhi to Mumbai, it was a connecting flight so they told me to reach Mumbai and they'll make an arrangement to find some other flight from Mumbai. I reached Mumbai and then I was told that there was no other flight the same day and I had to stay for the night and they'll provide the accomodation. I followed them but the shocking part was the hotel that they made me stay in was a hotel full of hookers. Initially I wasn't aware of it as it looked pretty normal to me but as soon as the night began I can see hookers all around. I made calls to my friends who stayed in the same city and they asked me to get away from that place. Thankfully nothing happened but it was one hell of a night.

How did you pay your way through all of your travels?

Jun 10, 6:05PM EDT0

Hi Dominic,

I was working full time till 2015 and my contract ended with UNICEF in 2015. Since then I have been freelancing and i travelled around with my savings. I try to do small projects to support my finances.

What's the most serious sickness or injury you've ever gotten while traveling?

Jun 10, 5:21PM EDT0

Hi Newtonvincent,

Yes I have. Got injured many times but those were mild injuries but I've once fallen sick due to the high altitute and the high intensity of the sun rays that resulted in sun stroke. It happened during the time when I was in Leh, the capital city of Ladakh region. It has an altitute of 3,524 mts and that very day I had to travel to to an altitude of 5,359 mts. I was rushed to the nearest hospital and they checked my vital signs which were fine but I was vommitting continously and a certain part of my head was throbbing. They gave me three injections to stabilise my condition. I was fine after an hour but whats interesting is I did ride the motorbike all to myself from Leh to Khardung La pass that same day. I am pretty happy with myself for pushing the limit and making it worthwhile.

What was the most surprising thing you've found during your travels?

Jun 10, 2:52PM EDT0

Hi Kimmonica,

I have been surprised every time whenever i travel to a new place, trust me. But mostly i have been surprised with the contrast in things and habits that range in people of different niches. There are some things that we are privileged to have and for us its pretty normal but for some people those are the rarest things and they cherish them like anything. I have been to a village where they are not allowed to use their own water body because the water goes to a nearby metro city and they travel 10 kilometers to fetch the water for their basic needs. It was quiet shocking to discover these sorts of things.

Have you ever met anyone famous or infamous in your travels?

Jun 10, 2:19PM EDT0

Hi Tara,

Sadly No, I havn't. Maybe I am too busy in enjoying my experience that I hardly pay attention to whose who are there around me. I guess that famous people travel with luxury and luxury travel is something i can't afford. Infamous I am not sure of because the interactions have been quiet limited so I can't really judge if a person is bad or good.

Do you prefer to travel during certain seasons of the year? If so, which seasons?

Jun 10, 12:45PM EDT0

Hi Michael,

I do not have any preference as such but i try to travel during the time when the season is ideal for visiting the specific place. Like the place that I am going to visit in 2 weeks has a terrible winter climate. During winters the temperature drops till -20 to -30 degrees celsius. Its not the ideal time to vist during that time when the bones freeze and certain places in the hills are not accessible. The best time to visit is in June.

Have you ever gotten sick or injured while traveling?

Are you married? Do you have any kids? If so, what do they think of your traveling?

Jun 10, 11:57AM EDT0

Hi Edillon,

No, I am not married. No kids as well. If in future I plan to have kids then probably I'll take them along too to travel with me and my partner.

What is the most unexpected thing you've discovered during your travels?

Jun 10, 9:14AM EDT0

Hi Elizabeth,

The most unexpected thing that I've come across is the stereotype image that certain people hold. I have met quiet many people some of which were great but there were some who maybe have never been across the boundaries of their city and they have a certain mindset about people. Like people have this tendancy of thinking that Indians are dark, not educated, females stay at home, they don't have gadgets, we have this weird Indian accent but all this is not true. I have came across some people from Turkey in Leh, Ladakh and they were quiet surprised to discover that I am an Indian as I was fair skinned, female, educated and without the weird accent. It was quiet unexpected but then its good to break those stereotype as well.

Jun 12, 3:28PM EDT0

What's the one thing you dislike the most about traveling?

Jun 10, 8:23AM EDT0

Hi Robertgilbert,

The lack of sleep and also my skin gets bad during travelling. During travelling there are times when i cannot drink plenty of water and can't get proper rest and thats when i get a pale skin, puffy eyes and breakouts. When i get home after 15-20 days the most suffered part is my skin. It takes around 3-4 days to get back to my healthy skin texture. Also i need to apply suncreen liberally when i am out in the sun over and over again which leads to quiet some breakouts as well at times. The another related thing that suffers is my hair. I have long hair and I couldn't take care of them while travelling so they get in a bad mood too.

How much luggage do you carry with you when you're traveling?

Jun 10, 8:04AM EDT0

Hi Fordsteven,

I prefer to carry less luggage when i am travelling. A 45lts rucksack and a 10lts handbag suffice my needs. If the clothes requirement exceeds this limit then i have to carry a medium size stroller bag.

Jun 12, 3:13PM EDT0

What kind of a camera do you have that you use for your vlogging?

Jun 10, 6:59AM EDT0

Hi Cmoran,

I am a rookie when it comes to vlogging. I am still learning how to carry a video camera along everytime. I mainly use my iphone for recording videos as it can record upto 1080p and the camera is pretty good too. While biking i use the gopro hero and I have a sony Alpha A58. Combining all of these i make videos and take pictures.

Jun 12, 3:11PM EDT0

How do you travel? Walk? Car? Bicycle? Mass Transit?

Jun 10, 5:42AM EDT0

Hi Bentonedward,

My travelling mode depends on the distance that I've to cover. My travelling varies from taking flights, trains, riding bike, by car. Basically anything and everything. The only mode of transport yet to experience is a cruise, I've been to ferry few times before but not to a ship/cruise. My favourite one remains riding the bike, wherever possible. If its not possible then any other mode will work fine for me.

Jun 12, 2:56PM EDT0

How do you keep in contact with your friends and family during your travels?

Jun 10, 5:18AM EDT0

Hey Sarah,

Yes I do. Family is the most important part of my life and i make sure i keep in touch with them. My friends also keep enquiring me about my whereabouts unless i am completely out of range. When there's no internet connection its quiet difficult to stay in touch with the world but even then i try my best to enquire about my dear ones every now and then. Talking to my family members once a day is mandatory and even i can't go without it.
